Evidence presented in Principia Media’s documentary DB Cooper: The Real Story, was featured in an August 2021 episode of Expedition Unknown, titled Ransom in the Sky (S9 E3). Forensic Linguist and retired Michigan State Police investigator Joe Koenig joins host Josh Gates and other Cooper enthusiasts to explore the compelling evidence that identifies Michigan-native Walter Reca as the infamous skyjacker of 1971. In the episode, Koenig joins Reca’s niece Lisa Story, Cooper eye-witness Jeff Osiadacz, and the Expedition Unknown crew to search the likely landing spot of Cooper, near the town of Cle Elum, WA. Lisa Story recalls the written and verbal confessions that her uncle gave to her prior to his death in 2014, and the exciting life he lived post-skyjacking as a CIA asset. He held several passports with his image and different names, including a KGB ID.
